Emi Lea Kamemoto is the CEO and Founder of Defiant Changemakers, the home of distinctive coaching techniques that embed the personal development, people organizing, and story-telling skills of the world’s great social movement Changemakers — from Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. & Gandhi to Gloria Steinem to activate a generation of leaders in Entertainment. Defiant Changemakers develops client’s stories to influence and galvanize social good for all and allow them to connect with and lift communities and networks to fairly represent stories the world has never heard before.
Emi’s experience in creating amazing internal and external client experiences through interpersonal and cross-cultural communication strategies for Capitol Hill, the Government of Japan, social justice organizations, and non-profits led her to the Creative Artists Agency where she joined as a Learning and Development Executive and Human Resources Leadership Team member. Emi worked with departments and stakeholders’ company-wide to create CAA’s first identity-based employee resource groups for the LatinX, Black, Asian American and Middle Eastern communities. Passionate about helping people advocate for their representation in Entertainment, Emi has guided employees and leaders at CAA and beyond in organizing activism, community building, and advocating their careers within the industry to pitch talent and projects from their communities.
