Sharena DeRouen
Program Coordinator

Sharena DeRouen is an energetic tactician who supports all of Film2Future’s internal and external program initiatives. The third out of four children born, Sharena is a first generation college student who has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in Creative Writing at Spelman College. She quickly expanded her writing and storytelling expertise by earning a Master of Fine Arts degree in Screenwriting at California’s very own Chapman University Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. From interning with the nation’s first and only weekly film festival, to being a script supervisor on set, to coordinating professional-level filmmaking programs, Sharena is undoubtedly committed to the industry where story matters.

With vast creative storytelling, managerial operations, project coordination, and customer service leadership experiences, Sharena applies these professional skills to help Film2Future deliver on its mission to diversify the entertainment industry and provide programs designed to inspire and elevate the future filmmakers of Los Angeles.

Wishing that there had been such a program to exist when she herself was in high school, Sharena’s personal connection to the impact Film2Future has on the lives of many young black and brown students allows her to wholeheartedly and enthusiastically strive to bring these young filmmakers’ dreams to fruition.
