Joaquin F. Palma was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, and is a first-generation American of Mexican descent. In 2005, he started his career in the entertainment industry as a production assistant and has gone on to become an award-winning writer, director, and producer of feature films, television, documentaries, commercials, and music videos.
With nearly two decades of experience, Joaquin has gained a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of the filmmaking process. From pitch to exhibition, his prowess for putting stories on the screen has kept him busy. Working with studios, streamers, networks, and a multitude of production companies, Joaquin’s passion and work ethic has established him as a relentless talent in the industry.
Beyond his career, Joaquin is vehemently devoted to helping elevate diverse voices within the industry. From directing the yearly Ya Tu Sabes monologue slam for NBC Universal and the Nosotros Organization, to his participation on various panels at film schools and film festivals; Joaquin is passionate about imparting his knowledge to the next generation of diverse storytellers. As the Production Lead at Film2Future, Joaquin is proud to guide our students through the joys, (and challenges,) of filmmaking; every step of the way. To him, nothing is more rewarding than mentoring those that come from exactly the same place he did.
